Arrival & Departure
An incoming group will be met at Samuel’s Store, 486260 Highway 95, Kootenai, Idaho by Mark and Lynn or an employee of the lodge. This is a good place to eat breakfast and get acquainted. At this time, all members of the group will be required to sign a liability release. Our trail head and parking area is about five miles from here and guests follow us there — Four wheel drive or chains are required.
Once at the trail head, the packing process begins. We will be equipped with two snowmobiles, two cargo sleds and one cascade toboggan. The cargo sleds measure 23in by 48 in. and can be stacked about 36 in. high. In no case should a cooler or tub be longer than 23 in. Rubbermaid 18 gallon Rough Totes work best for packing. They fit and stack well on the cargo sleds. A maximum of 12 tubs or coolers per group fit on the cargo sleds. We prefer everything to be in a tub as opposed to a duffle or pack. The cascade toboggan is good for extra skis only. We will only make one trip in with food and personal gear, with a weight limit of 400 pounds. If a second trip is necessary, we charge an extra $150.00. Please pack well, it can be a bumpy trip and sometimes the cargo sleds tip over on their sides.
No full size kegs anymore, please! Bring a couple of pony kegs, they are easier to deal with if we get stuck — and we do get stuck!
Dogs are allowed, but there is a two-dog limit per group. We charge a $25.00 cleaning fee per dog. All dog waste must be promptly cleaned up by owners, that means clean it up before it gets covered with snow!
We don’t have an official “check out” time at Caribou Mountain Lodge, but we do ask that we have access to the building by noon on the day of your departure to start laundry and cleaning. What works best is for a group to get packed up in the morning, put everything on the front porch and then go ski for the day. We’ll meet you at the trail head with your gear at whatever time you choose.
